MonaLisa Touch - true. Women's Health

Say Goodbye To Painful Sex

You deserve to feel like yourself again

MonaLisa Touch is a fractional CO2 laser that is proven to be effective in improving the symptoms of vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, and bladder urgency. If menopause or early menopause due to a cancer diagnosis or hysterectomy have caused you discomfort, MonaLisa may be right for you.

MonaLisa Touch is as effective as estrogen and helps stop the suffering of women who cannot use vaginal estrogen safely or choose not to. The procedure is quick, only slightly uncomfortable for less than 5 minutes, and requires three treatments over three months, followed by an annual treatment for maintenance. Women who have the treatment say they return to normal activities immediately and start to notice improvement soon after the first treatment and more with each one.

MonaLisa FAQs

MonaLisa Touch is a gentle laser therapy that delivers controlled energy to vaginal wall and vulvar tissue. This therapy treats the symptoms of low estrogen, typically occurring after childbirth or during perimenopause and menopause. MonaLisa Touch is the most effective non-surgical and non-pharmacological solution for preventing and treating vaginal dryness from low estrogen and other associated symptoms such as itching, painful intercourse, and bladder urgency. It restores vaginal tissues by stimulating natural growth factors and signaling tissue to generate new collagen, elastin, as well as improve blood vessel supply.

Treatments are recommended for any woman who wishes to treat her vaginal dryness, painful intercourse or bladder urgency due to lack of estrogen. MonaLisa Touch is for women who cannot receive estrogen therapy due to a cancer diagnosis or prefer not to use hormone medication. MonaLisa is also an option for women recovering from childbirth and breastfeeding who suffer from painful sex.

MonaLisa Touch Laser Treatment is particularly well-suited for women who cannot, or prefer not, to receive estrogen therapy because it is a non-hormonal treatment.

Clinical protocols recommend 3 initial treatments spaced approximately 4 weeks apart followed by an annual treatment for maintenance.

The procedure is virtually painless and requires no anesthesia. Some patients may experience slight discomfort the first time the probe is inserted, but the actual laser treatment is not painful. Many describe the application as a "gentle vibration."

The actual treatment is brief, only 5 minutes. However, along with some quick paperwork and prep time, a numbing gel is also applied externally prior to the procedure which adds to the appointment time. Plan for a 30-minute appointment time with us.

Some women report slight localized discomfort for a few days following the laser treatment.* We send you home with a gel ice pack. Sexual activity should be restricted for 2 to 3 days after treatment. NO time off work is necessary. Most women almost immediately resume their normal routine.

*Results may vary from person to person.

The results are immediate, beginning within the first week after the first treatment for most patients. Progressive improvement was reported in clinical trials over subsequent treatments and months, and was also observed in our own experience here at true.* The laser is increased in strength on subsequent sessions so it is important to complete the 3-treatment package for optimal results. A single session annually is recommended to maintain results.

*Results may vary from person to person.

Typically, sexual activity can be resumed 2 to 3 days following treatments.
